Touchdown on the South Lawn
Contributed by Rob Jones in Government on June 1, 2009
I shot this a couple years ago while attending a presidential arrival on the south lawn of the White House. Anybody that spends time in the city knows that it is quite a production to move the president anywhere – moving him by Marine One is certainly no excpetion. It was quite an experience – in the shot what looks like snow is really the fresh cut grass, scattered by tremendous downdraft of this big bird landing. This was taken with my old trusty D70, 18-70mm lens – f/9 at 1/320.

Nice shot, Rob! I like the B&W treatment for this rather than leaving it in color.
